My roof

Some polaroid photos taken on my roof. Yes, it is actual polaroid film. It's the last of it I have. I'm going to be trying out the Fuji version as soon as this is all gone.

Lazy Days

I've totally been slacking on a lot of stuff lately. I'm working on getting a scanner and just ordered some new film for my old polaroid. I need to get motivated.  New stuff will be posted if I actually get the scanner, I'm just waiting on the dude to get back to me.

Squeel Like a pig!

I finished my second shot at embroidery a little bit ago. It took much longer than I had planned, partly because I lacked motivation. I did a pig and planned on doing a rooster to go along with it.

These two animals are traditional sailor tattoos that are usually gotten on the feet to keep the person from drowning.

I started a sketch for the rooster, but I'm not liking how it's looking, so I'll probably just stick with the pig for now.

I decided to finish it up on a sunny day on top of my building.
After about an hour I finally finished the pig.

Schneider Gallery

I went to a photography museum the other day just to explore and get out of the house for a while.
I wasn't really expecting anything great, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The gallery was really small, but the work was really good and I was glad to see that it wasn't all digital "artsy" hipster art. It was toward the end of the exhibition and the gallery attendant was setting out work for the new show, so I also got a bonus sneak peak of their upcoming show.

Normally I'm really not into portraiture, but I was really into some prints by Luis Gonzalez- Palma. I think I liked that it was a large format and was all hand done.

He did an alternative process on red paper and gold leaf for some of his prints. It's kind of hard to tell in the picture, but the way it was layered and and the little bit of red peaking through made the piece way more interesting than a lot of work I've seen around.

His more traditional portraits were silver gelatin prints, which makes me really miss having a darkroo, and then were hand painted.

I'm really glad I went. It makes me want to get back out there and take pictures again. Hopefully Once the weather gets just a bit better and when I have a couple of days off I'll go on an adventure that I can capture on film or at least on my digital.

Nothing Left To Loose

I have this way of pushing people I care about away or saying the wrong thing that ruins what good things I do have in my life. Hopefully I've learned my lesson and won't stay with this pattern. Maybe someday I'll allow myself to be happy for once. It's not that I'm depressed or anything, I've just never had an easy life and I guess I don't know how to function without some kind of pain or hurt in my life. I think it's time to move past that, I'm tired of being damaged.

Bad day

Today was not the greatest. I spent Easter totally alone and did my taxes and owe like $1,000.00.
When life gives you crap, make art? That's what I did to past the time....and watched  My So Called Life.
It's one of the bigger paintings I've done and I think maybe even the first one I've done this year. Definitely the first real art I've done since moving to Chicago.

I might go back and add a few more highlights and then laquer it. Plus I need to either frame it or put some wood on the back so I can hang it.

Whatever. Who cares.

You're all wet.

My parents came to visit/help me move and we took a day off from unpacking to go to the Shedd aquarium. Here are some pictures I took.

I took more, but I don't feel like posting them all here.

Breakfast Pleasantries

I had breakfast at Delicious Cafe with someone special.

Soy Mocha Heart

Raspberry Mocha  Flower

I like it when a place actually puts effort and care into their food.

Kenosha

I went to my first "hardcore" show in Kenosha the other night.
It pretty much made me feel really old and sad at what is considered "punk" or "hardcore".

Matt's brother Andy's band Heartless played and they did a pretty good job.
Somehow I managed to miss Matt spazzing out and doing a spin kick, falling and subsequently hurting his knee. Good times.

Busy Bee

I haven't posted on here very much.

I just moved to a new city 300 miles from home and am in the middle of adjusting to everything.
I have a new job and have been working a lot, so I really haven't had much free time.

Hopefully once things settle down, adventures will begin and documentation will be provided.
